Welcome to my New Blog!
Sitting at home writing this post, I find myself reflecting on the year of 2019 that’s rapidly drawing to a close. Its been a busy one for me in my journey as a painter, starting in January with preparing a site for my new studio! When I started out on my adventures as a Landscape painter a few years ago, I only had a tiny space at the back of our garage to serve as a studio in which to paint, make painting panels, frames and store everything an artist needs. This little unheated space soon filled up and it became just too difficult to paint in so all painting had to be carried out in the Landscape!
So the year started off with the urgency to build a proper studio space at the top of the garden. Having a new building opened up new opportunities for me with Landscapes painted from plein air studies and Still Life and Flower paintings!
The little Flower paintings have been a lot of fun, mostly painted on small 8″x 6″ panels, trying to capture the light and sometimes intense colour of these subjects.
This year I have returned to many of my favourite locations in South Pembrokeshire painting the little harbour at Tenby, the distinctive landmark of Monkstone point jutting out into the sea, the yachts in their Winter resting places such as Angle and of course, the beautiful Sandy Beaches scattered around the coast. One of the beaches I visited in October was the lovely Sandy Haven. Its a great place to paint at this time of year with the low Winter Light over the Haven illuminating the wet sands in Golden Sunlight.
I am very lucky that many of you like and purchase my paintings enabling me to carry on in my journey as a painter and without your support this would not be possible and I am very grateful to you all!
I hope to make these little blog posts a regular thing as I struggle to get to grips with technology but for now I would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year!
thanks for shairing this post
